finding help: Overview
Whatever your goals and objectives for the future of your land, chances are, at some time you’ll want to talk to a natural resource professional.  But do you know the difference between a forester and a logger?  Would a forester from industry, the DNR, or a private consultant be the best fit for your needs?  How should you decide?

This section of the site will introduce you to the different kinds of natural resources professionals.  We’ll start with some thoughts about the benefits of working with a professional forester both to help you develop a general stewardship plan and also as you plan specific timber harvest operations.

Once you’re sure of what you want to do, you may choose to work directly with a logger.  We’ll also help you to choose the right logger for your job, based on your individual needs.  After working through this section, you might be ready to make initial contacts with some foresters or loggers through our directory.
